Ok, so I liked them. I am not necessarily hooked, but they are good. I don’t know…there is so much alcohol and drug reference, and I don’t want to sound like a prude, but I hope that the HS kids I teach don’t do that stuff!!

I haven’t read the IT GIRL series, but Miss Carrie said they are fantastic!! I will look into those…

Syllabus. Rules. Plans!

Have you ever read a syllabus? Of course you have. Have you ever written one? Well, it’s really hard. I am nervous about mine…how much is too much? How much is too little? This syllabus sets the tone of my classroom. I don’t want to sound like a pansy, but at the same time, I don’t want to sound like a tyrant either. I wrote out my classroom rules on poster board today really big so that no one will forget them! They are going to be above my whiteboard. Well, my roommate’s boyfriend read them and said, “You are a Nazi!” At first, I was offended, but then I realized that maybe I do want to come off strict at first. I just don’t want to be run over.

This is so much fun! I’m reading the Lit books and getting so very excited about how to tach the stories that I have fallen in love with before and will again. Poe, Steinbeck, Dickinson! WHOOHOO!

So much has transpired.

I started work. We go to this “New Teacher Academy” so that we feel comfortable with the in’s and out’s of the county’s school system. It’s been an amazing experience. My co-workers are fabulous.

I have also lost 4 pounds. I don’t know if it is just water weight or what, but it is encouraging. Every night I go to sleep with sore abs and sore arms. It feels DARN GOOD.

The children come on August 11th and I CANNOT WAIT for the school year to start. I have yet to get my classroom in order AT ALL because of all the meetings, but I cannot wait to put my comfy blue chair out and my books! It’s going to be fun…

I’ve also somehow decided to help with the cheerleaders. How interestng!

Hello!!!! I joined the YMCA and biked 5 miles and did the elliptical for about 20 minutes.

I also only ate 1300 calories and felt satisfied!

WOOHOO! Not to mention……..the most exciting part of my day………… I GOT THE TEACHING JOB I REALLY WANTED!!!!!!!! I cannot wait for the school year to begin! Teachers go back July 31st, so I will have to make the most of the next few days!

Let’s get physical!

I had a physical this morning with my family doctor. I had put it off and put it off some more….I haven’t had one in 3 years. (ooops.)

Well, I went this morning and it turns out I’m about … well, let’s just say that I am wayyyyyy off of my ideal weight. Doc said I need to burn at least 500 calories a day and only consume 1500. So far today I’ve had about 1250. Salad for lunch with olives, pickles, and about three pieces of turkey. I did have ranch on the tomato and lettuce, but it was only about 2 tablespoons.

For dinner I had a peanut butter and jelly and some carrots. That’s pretty good, right?? I KNOW! Ha.

And I’m going to need to go to the gym. I probably should be at the gym right now, but it’s 8 p.m. and I have a feeling I should just go in the morning.

I am going to make myself a promise to lose at least 25 pounds by my friend Stephanie’s wedding. I think I can do it. No..I KNOW I CAN!
